New Zenith Watch Inspired by Aviation History

Classic model and chronograph in vintage style

The aeronautical heritage of Zenith, a former manufacturer of aircraft measuring instruments, is especially evident in the collection with the self-explanatory name Pilot. It has recently been updated with a couple of new additions – the Pilot Type 20 Rescue and Pilot Type 20 Rescue Chronograph – inspired by the original watch that accompanied aeronautics pioneer Louis Blériot on his voyage across the English Channel.

Their original features (a large crown that could be adjusted without removing gloves, clear and large numbers that make it easier to read the indicators), although in an even more improved form, are also present in the new products. In particular, the still-large Arabic numerals are now entirely made of SuperLuminova and sit on a dark gray guilloché dial enclosed in a 45mm case.

Both models are complemented by a black strap made of aged calfskin with a texture reminiscent of an aviator’s jacket, with a pilot’s helmet patch and a traditional titanium buckle.
