The races of two powerful sports cars took place on the runway during heavy rain
The special version of the Ford Mustang is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the movie Bullit, starring Steve McQueen. In this film, he rode a 1968 Ford Mustang sports car, making this one of the most recognizable cars in the world. In total, two such cars took part in the film.
The revived sports car is equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 petrol engine. The power of the unit is 457 horsepower. In the US, the car is equipped with the same engine, but there its output was increased to 475 horsepower. The engine works in conjunction with a six-speed manual transmission. The maximum speed is 270 km per hour.
Rear-wheel drive LC 500 is equipped with a five-liter naturally aspirated V8 unit, producing 477 horsepower. The motor is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The coupe is capable of gaining the first “hundred” in 4.4 seconds.
It is noteworthy that both cars participating in the race are painted green. The races themselves took place on the runway in the rain. In addition to the traditional 402 meter straight line, the cars competed in acceleration from an average speed. The final victory went to the Japanese coupe. The cars were not driven by professional racers.
